Self Awareness - The meta Skill of the 21st Century

That buzz word “self-awareness” is going around like wildfire, but most of us don’t have a clue what it’s all about. We think we’re more thoughtful, that we’re better listeners, we’re authentic, and we understand our emotional intelligence. But most of us are all pretty rubbish at it.  Recent research suggests that although 95% of people think they’re self-aware, only 12% really are.  We don’t have to look very far from the tree to find family members, friends, colleagues, political figures and very famous people who display a complete lack of awareness and how they come across to others.

The Race to Excellence - Set Goals that Matter

Did you know that 85% of successful people have one big goal and they work on it all the time? Only 3% of unsuccessful people have a comprehensive plan, and they don’t work on it very much. So, if you want to get prosperous and accomplished, do what successful people do. Pick one big goal and work on it all the time, and if you do that, it will change your life forever. And if you don’t believe in this concept, then let me tell you a story about the most decorated Olympic athlete of all time, Michael Phelps.

Get Focused – Win with Self Discipline

Louis Holtz, a former American football player, coach, once said: “Without self-discipline, success is impossible, period.” Self-discipline is that mental state of commitment, which gets you performing a task even if you don’t feel like doing it.

Self-discipline is a skill that isn’t taught much at school or work, so many people learn little about it and give up on their goal after a while, especially when it gets tough. Michael Phelps put it best when he said that most people try and later stop or give up.

The Gladiator within You - Your Mental and Physical well-being

Your “mojo” has left the building, and you have no clue how to get back to your usual, confident, self. At some stage of your life, you will face unfortunate situations such as a job loss, a death or a relationship may end. Such setbacks will cripple you for a while. You will experience feelings of not been enough, feelings of inadequacy and your self-esteem will take a significant hit. But hear this reality; nobody in life will have a smooth path to success. There will always be ups and downs, crashes and burnouts.

Human Connections - Build Great Relationships

As individuals, we crave friendship and positive connections, just as we do food and water. It makes sense then that the better our relationships are at work and home, the more productive and happier we will be. Whether it is in business, outside of work or at home, real success is impossible without building great relationships. That success is only achievable when you treat other people with kindness, empathy, and respect, and there must be trust. Fostering great relationships is one of the hardest things to do because it has to be a lasting, honest and genuine one; or at least it should be.

Become a Company Ambassador – Understand your Customers

In any trade, the sales and customer department play a critical role in the business’s success. The sales process can be a tough one, so if you care about the profession you work in, then you should not only be passionate about the products or services you provide, but also eager for client satisfaction. If you’re passionate about solving problems for people, then you are on to the road to success. It’s all about customer delight.

Winning Behaviours in Teams – Be part of a Super Tribe

Ever look up to the sky and marvel at birds flying together in a V pattern. You see these incredible creatures flying in synchronisation, and you perhaps wonder why they are doing this and how are they communicating with each other.?

Geese for example can cover up 1500kms in any given day and fly in a V formation to help each other out. When a goose flies into formation, it creates shelter, reduces wind restriction, and keeps the birds coordinated. According to research, the entire flock adds 70% greater flying range than if each bird were to fly alone. If a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the wind drag and struggles to fly solely. The story is fascinating and a practice we can learn from.

The Problem Solver - Get Creative and Innovative

It takes a team of people to build a great business, and in that team, there needs to be highly innovative and creative people. The world is always looking for naturally innovative people. They are the ones excited to solve problems and come up with new ideas. They take fresh concepts and turn them into reality.

Creative people challenge the status quo and look to continually improve and innovate products and services. They are curious and are not afraid to venture beyond their core roles. They see things differently, find the why and then say, “why not.” Creative people make the world a place of possibilities. A simple idea can make a business big bucks.

Inside A Leader's Mind - What it takes to be a Leader

Something happened to leaders’ overtime in their life to make them think differently. Leaders are unique people. They have a very simple distinction from others. They think differently. Leadership is the highest calling to a bigger purpose. To become a leader, the preliminary step is managing your complete self; your mind, body, and by utilising the spirit that lies within. John C. Maxwell, author of Developing the Leader within You would say; “a leader is one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way”. Leadership is the ability to inspire confidence, to motivate and support the people to achieve success. Leaders set direction; they build an inspiring vision; are innovative and energise others to achieve worthwhile goals. They turn the impossible into “it’s possible”.

Make A Difference – Branding a Better You

People don’t do business with companies. They do business with people they like. The most powerful tool you have in creating success in every area of your life is your personal brand. Your brand is a relationship with you, with others, and who you are as an individual. The development of personal branding involves finding your uniqueness, building a reputation on that talent and then allowing yourself to be known for it. Relationships are based on trust and transparency. Your brand is, in fact, emotional, rather than physical. Take, for example, big brands like Apple, Tesla, Samsung, Microsoft. People don’t follow companies; they follow people. Apple has Tom Cook, Tesla has Elon Musk, and General Motors has Mary Barra.
